2 Budgies
I have two male budgies. They have always been a little nippy to each other, but recently, I noticed that one of my budgie's nostrils appears to have been picked at. I have them separated (one inside the cage and one outside), but I'm not sure what I should do now. Neither of them are particularly tame, but the one who is being picked on will at least get on my finger and let me take him out of his cage. Any help is appreciated!

Hello and welcome. Sounds to me like your budgies will need to be in separate cages, before someone gets seriously hurt. Those little toes and eyes are so delicate, and budgies sure can fight! As long as they can still see other they won’t get lonely :)

Thank you for the advice. I will have to wait to get another cage, but I asked my grandmother (she's the one who got me into birds) and she says she has another one I can use for time being.

Do you think getting rid of the bully bird would be any option, as I do not really have a place in my house where two bird cages would fit next to each other. I know this would probably mean much more time would need to be spent with the bird I keep, but would it have any lasting repercussions otherwise?

Well, if it was me... I’d try to keep the little guys together as they’re accustomed to each other, and to you. I have a smallish home too with massive whopping great big cages, it’s a right royal pain floorspace-wise but we manage ... :)

You could try to seperate them for a week but the cages next to eachother in the meanwhile they could miss eachother and after that week you could try to put them back in the same cage, However when you put them together again you should monitor them because you dont want anyone to get hurt good luck.

Thank you for the help. I found a spot where they can go next to each other. This is off topic, but do y’all know why one of my budgies is very sweet and the other is mean to me and the other bird?

Update: Tried to put the budgies back together, and the bully chased and picked at the other bird. I separated them again. You think I should just leave them separated?

Amsterdam is spot on! You will need to keep them separated, one will always be inclined to pick on the other.
