What a wonderful experience to witness such a wonderful historic event here in South Africa.

Our Rainbow nation is standing together as "ONE"

Companies are closing at 1pm, it is absolutely chaotic.

There is a fantastic atmosphere everywhere.

Vuvuzela's can be heard all over the city, from people blowing them outside their houses, in shopping centres, cars, EVERYWHERE.

Flags are visible, houses proudly displaying many different flags, from every corner, all lamp post, almost every car, supporting a few different countries.

Mishka is so excited as well, she has perfected the sound of a vuvuzela (help please !!!!)


Unfortunately we heard sad news, that Nelson Mandela's great grandchild, passed away in a tragic car accident, after attending the FIFA concert last night. Our condolences to the family.

Well with all that said, less than 45 minutes to the opening ceremony, praying for a safe and enjoyable Soccer World Cup

Okay, I dont' watch soccer much (since I live in the US and we just don't understand it), but I'm getting kind of caught up in the excitement. I don't know if I'll watch many games, but I'll definitely keep track.

Enjoy the atmosphere, Antoinette. It's such an exciting thing for any nation.

Wow the opening ceremony was fantastic, unbelievable.
To see all the different races, participating together and enjoying themselves.
What a magnificent display. "Proud to be a South African"

My nerves are finished........
We managed to draw with Mexico, one goal each.
Bafana were winning 1 nil, till the second last minute, and they scored.
Mexico is rated 17th in the world, Bafana 87th.
We managed to keep up with the best, so proud of Bafana.

What is so cool, is when we score a goal, the commentator yells

I have banned anyone bringing one into our apartment, the sounds is deafening, imagine what it does to the poor birds all over S.A.
