The doctor says I must surrender my parrot. I've had her since she was a baby. She's 15 now. She's very smart and is a good companion. Not demanding. She is a self-plucker, so she's not pretty. Good talker. Her name is Maya. Other than the plucking thing, she's been very healthy.

Okay, lets say that I live in Cuba (which I do not) are you going be drop the Parrot by my place? Very likely not, so where is the huge World are you just may provide someone near you a reason to respond.

I am sorry that you have to give up your 'long time' Companion, an 'Eclectus' no less, because of medical issues. I am certain that you have spoken with your Certified Avian Vet (CAV) regarding this issue and likely have gotten a second opinion. Medical issues can result in a forced separation.

My responding will get your Thread bumped back-up the Board and if you add some additional information, with hope, someone near you have just chime in.

So sorry to hear that you have to rehome Maya. As SailBoat says definitely worth talking to your CAV. Unfortunately the medical profession can be quick to blame a bird in the home if they get to hear about them. Before you take this enormous step be absolutely sure the info you are getting is beyond doubt. Regrets years later are painful.
