My Green Cheek is a Male and he loves me to bits, he's not bad with my Girlfriend but not as good as with me, though I'm his primary carer and I bond with him and preen him a lot more.
I think the whole male/female female/male bonding thing is a myth. It's more the personality of the bird and how much quality time you spend with them.
My Green Cheek looooooves to bite too, he gnaws, he simply loves to use his beak to play with me, gnaw on my fingers and play fight etc. He does occasionally nip out at my GF though but never me unless I really annoy him
I have had both male and female birds, they loved everyone, whether male or female.
I reckon it depends how the bird it brought up, sharing time with both male and female companions makes a big big difference
Hadn't noticed too much of a difference with my GCC's, but with my Suns & Cockatiels the personalities definitely differ. My females always seem to be sweeter, quieter, just have a calmer air about them....my males are loud, funny, and sometimes testy.
But I agree, it is most important about your individual bond with your bird, you can't go wrong either way!
We're talking about the sun conure your getting right? Why don't you just go meet all the babies and see which one comes to you? I've always had a better connection with male birds, they bond with me better, even the ones I used to raise. The female usually leaves me for someone else in the house. Willie and JoJo comes to me while Dixie and Gracie flies to my partner. Only on rare occasion where a female bird prefers me, one of my girl tiels prefers me, Mallory. Sybil goes to my partner too. So its best for you to visit to see which one likes you better.
