Feeding soft for breeding season

Add soft, but don't stop the normal food

You could feed sprouted seeds?

Also keep a close eye on the crops of the babies to be sure the parents aren't feeding whole seeds to tiny chicks. This is just one reason why breeder birds need to be taught to eat a variety of foods including pellets. Some pairs don't break down the seeds far enough before feeding the babies and that can lead to all kinds of digestive issues and infections.

Breeding pairs should be given an excellent diet all year with added protein and fat during breeding season.

Lots of veggies
Lots of sprouts
A few fruits
Nuts
Animal protein such as meal worms or cooked chicken
Some seeds
High quality pellets
Cuttle bone

During breeding season you can add palm oil or coconut oil (please be sure to use sustainably sourced, orangutan friendly palm oil if you use it).

During breeding g season they should also get egg food and whole grain breads.

A lot of breeders say their birds won't eat these things. If that's the case, don't breed them until they do.
