Feathers

I have 5 feathers clipped on each wing (P4-P8) in the spring specifically for the summer months when the doors are constantly being opened and because we take Nike camping. Usually by fall I had an additional one or two vet visits because just the addition of one feather gives her the ability to gain altitude and right now with 3 having been replaced she is essentially fully flighted but not quite as flighty as when she has them all.

In the pic below you can see replacement #4 almost ready for action. My hope is that all of them grow in by the time we need to clip her again so I can cut down on vet visits. It's not the money but it's a 2hr round trip.

Pretty Nike!

I feel your pain on the pin feathers. Stanley and Mr Tee rarely accept assistance with pins from me and I swear it makes my fingers twitch to see them. So they both can look like porcupines for a few months
