Parrots
gold capped conure (Munchie)
moluccan cockatoo (Poppy)
what does that mean? my too is usually content when i see him like that. i know beak grinding is a good sign. was wondering if the feather thing means the same thing. i hope so cuz a happy & content bird is a good bird. when i see that beak, i say to myself, i hope he never uses it on me!

what does that mean?

I'd like to know the same thing. You want to know the significance; I cant even figure what you are referring to. ::confused::

Seeing that it's a cockatoo would you be referring to his crest feathers (on his head)? If so is he displaying them (putting them up), or are they going back?

A crest display can mean MANY things so it has to be read in context - but contentment is the one thing I have never known it to mean. It is much like eye pinning in its use: the most common use (in nature anyhow) is as a threat when they are angry, but it is also used when they are excited/intrigued or 'turned on'.

In terms of reading it in context it is not only what he is doing, but where he is, and what you are doing, etc.

If he displays as you approach him this is far different from him displaying while you give hit the right spot with a good scratch while he is cuddled up with you.

I suppose one way of putting it is that a crest display is like an exclamation point. To know what it is he is exclaiming you have to read other cues.

no. not the crest feathers. there are feathers that extend at the bottom of the beak that flare out & actually cover it somewhat. i think it means contentment. i am aware of the crest thing. i had an umbrella for many years.

I can't figure mine out. I've only had her for a day but she does the sideways beak grinding, nose feathers, dreery eyes, hugs and kisses. I just can't believe she is "content" after one day lol! Is it even possible.

She met my dad and held her wings out and started head banging... I have no idea what that means she didn't bite him or anything though.

As for the feathers on beak thing guys I'm pretty sure they mean like my signature and avatar they have feathers to the side of their beak that fluff out and cover part of their beak.
