Hey everyone!!!
Sooo a while back, I believe in May, I took Bowie for his vet visit. Everything checked out great but he doesnt let his tail grow in! The vet mentioned that it could just be bc its itchy to grow, boredom or anxiety. She mentioned if it persists or gets worse that he might need a cone. Of course it gets worse!! Both my birds were clipped around the same time, one can fly and Bowie just falls like a ton of led!!! He needs a cone, without a doubt! So im wondering if I can just order one myself on amazon? Is this something I can do and monitor without the vet? The only reason I ask is bc she tends to be a bit pricey, which I feel completely horrible saying btw!!! She is an amazing woman and the facility is spot on!!!! Buttttt if anyone knows if there is a safe DIY remedy please help! ♡♡♡

In order to fix the plucking you need to determine the source. The cone will only last as long as you leave it on, and "blocking" mechanisms like that often cause problems of their own.

When my Cache was plucking her tail I did a lot of research and found out that tail plucking is often due to Acid build up. Until you address that, the problem will remain.
