I know this is probably an overdone question. I tried to Google what a plucked feather vs a molted feather looked like. DEPRESSING! What I got was either a ton of poor babies with plucked feathers or chicken plucking. Jasper did pluck his chest but not his down so I'm thinking this is just a feather that fell out. But because he's so great and hasn't had the most attention in his last home, I want to make sure that I'm on top of everything for him. I attached the picture. It's one of his beautiful red feathers. It seems you can zoom in on the ones we attach but not if the pic is in the post. I do see a little bit of "root" but I've found only down in and around his cage. This is the 2nd red feather he's lost in about 2 months.

Looks to me like the Rickeybird's regularly-moulted feathers... :)

I'm in full agreement with those above.

General Information: Commonly flight feathers are molted in a very specific pattern! When Parrots are Molting Wing Feathers, they will not molt Tail Feathers and when Tail Feathers are Molted, they will not molt Wing Feathers. They also tend to molt in sets, i.e. the far outside right and the far outside left (or the first inside from that position) will be molted very close to each other. This process assures that other feathers will protect the new feather(s) and also assure full flight will they are molting.
