Isolated Holler in the Appalachian Wilderness
Parrots
B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
Anybody else keep fancy rats? I used to breed them before the horribleness with Pistol(RIP), but then couldn't separate blame from them and rehomed them so they would get the care and love they deserved(they were just being rats).

Fast forward about a year and a half or so, and I felt like I was ready to bring home rats again. The same day we brought home 22 rescue parakeets about 4 months ago, we also adopted 2 brother rats around 8 months old or so. And a few weeks ago we bought 2 more boys and 3 girls from a semi-local breeder. We plan to get started breeding them again, once the little ones grow up a bit( they are only in the 3 month old range). Anybody else keep and/or breed fancy rats? They really are lovely animals, but should NEVER be trusted around birds. EVER.

I mean I do obviously haha. I do 250-300g before breeding. So whenever they are that weight I pair them up. I breed for both pets & to feed the snakes.

Dumbo Russian Blues are my absolute favorite with the Dumbo Martens a close second!

What do you house yours in? I used to keep 2 large critter nation style cages(1 each for boys and girls) and breed in modified large sterilite tubs. I still have not brought the big wire cages to the farm, so today I am modifying some tubs for them.
