Fairly new Parrot owner.

Hello there from alabama. i recently added a Hahn's Mccaw to my family named Kahn.

I did alot of research before buying one. I have always been fairly afraid of birds, however a friend of mine has about 15 birds who i recently faced my fears with.

My husband got a red bellied parrot for valentines day who was hatched in november, named Dexter. My hahn's is about 8 months old. He is starting really bond with us and be more comfortable in his surroundings.

Congratulations on meeting your fear head on. Welcome to the board. Pictures are always nice to see.
New bird owners usually start off with one bird, then notice what wonderful animals they are and how they become dependant on you for everything. They form great bonds with you and show just how much they love you. Before to long, people get carried away and before you know it, you have a house full of birds, this sounds like this happended to your friend. lol. Try to stay in control on the number of birds you can care for.

I tell you. I used to be terrified. However my friend has a little of everything from blue and gold to quakers. My favorite by far is her moluccan cockatoo.

kahn has had to do some warming up. he was not as socialized as deixter was. the breeders i got him from didn't really spend much time with him after he was weaned. But he is a good talker, though does not talk around company yet.

We love my daughter's Hahns. Cute, cuddly, and quite the talker (like Alvin the Chipmunk).
