I have to say I'm a bit more upset than I thought I was going to be. I really don't think I will ever get it on her. I had the loop around her head then she just started screaming like crazy and I let go. Now it's going to be impossible. Really bummed out. I knew it was a 50/50 shot but for some reason this failure has me bummed out. Thanks for listening.

I'm not like mad at her or anything more like a kid who didn't get what he wants for Christmas.

Good news she isn't totally spoiled by the harness now just suspicious.

I have a flight suit for my boy and honestly I'm pretty nervous to even try. He is much smaller than your girl but still, I don't want to get bit, I don't want to hurt him, and I don't want to lose his trust.
I really have to get there though, as he will eventually be going absolutely everywhere with me. Right now I have been petting him with it and it stays pinned to the outside of his cage.
I encourage you to keep pushing forward though! It will open a whole new world for the both of you and she will soon forget the little thing around her when she gets to go outside.
Take baby steps and what I plan to do is have someone help me.
Honestly my emotions always get the bets of me so I doubt I will be able to do it alone lol.

Good call someone helping would make it a lot easier. I have a couple friends that shes starting to get to know but she is still pretty suspicious of other people. I'm not to worried about getting bit; Timneh is such a sweetheart. Greys are really sensitive so as soon as I feel like I'm getting frustrated I take a time out. Lost my element of surprise now though. I had her going through my hand and the neck of the harness for treats, now she knows what I'm up too.

Haha oh no, the ever intelligent grey has figured you out! Don't worry, she will forgive you, you'll just have to be extra sneaky!

I told you, I have been working with Salty for the better part of 1 year , every night, to get his Aviator harness on. We have successfully put it on 3 times. Months and months just to get him to put his head thru the head loop. Now that its warming up, I am going to shoot for a short session outside , just before dinner, make it seem like dinner is the treat for doing it with no problems. We'll see.

All I can suggest is that you practice it every night, with lots of treats for any positive movement.

I (finally) found a great video for getting the flight suit on a little bird. Using the technique shown there, I was actually able to get it on Bumble (parrotlet). She continued chewing on it but didn't seem overly distressed. I took it right back off and haven't tried since - next time it goes on I want to immediately take her outside so I'm waiting for an opportune moment. If you go to YouTube and search "flight suit on parakeet " you should find it. The voice sounds like a young kid and several times says "just because your bird is doing this now, doesn't mean he'll do it forever" (chewing suit, walking like a drunken sailor). I found that both endearing and reassuring!

We aren't giving up!! I'm just being a baby. I didn't mean to type spoiled I meant scared of her harness. We will get there if not this year next year or the year after. Thanks for listening to me whine it really does help.

Flight harness, in my opinion have been over sold regarding the easy of putting them on Parrots. Every natural sense of a Parrot is violated during the process of putting is on them in addition to it staying on. It is a true statement of deep trust for them to allow such a contraption on them.

Al's long efforts is likely more consistent with the time and persistence needed to make this happen without stress-out the Parrot.

This is the stuff that supports the long effort into developing that strong trust bond! You can screw-up, push to far and get forgiven.

I still have Perjo's harness sitting in plain view for her, been there a year. I have it on her friend the stuffed CAG FLuffy and I show her Fluffy wearing it a few times a week and let her touch it and talk to her about what it is.
