I personally don't have experience with this but the first time I've read of it from one of the forum goes, it was due to vitamin A deficiency. The bird's symptoms were obvious though. Not only was it loosing feather around the beak and head, it had what seemed like abnormal postules where the pin feathers would normally grow. His vet recommended red palm oil (rich vitamin A supplement) and the problem cleared in 1-2 weeks. Fresh foods and veggies high in vitamin A is even better, granted your bird will ingest it in high volumes and frequently at that. Mangoes, carrots, cantaloupe come to mind.

Consider the possibility of the other bird having a hand (or a beak) at it as well. However before taking any action, I highly recommend that you see an A-Vet for a proper diagnosis. Best of luck to you and your bird!

thanks!
I dont have an avian vet near me, ive been offering them many new veggies and fruits. im going to visit the pet shop in search for some mite guard, and go from there. im starting my vet search tomorrow as well.
other than the baldness around the beak and possibly a little around the eyes, the guys seem active, they are eating well,
even starting to snatch fruits from my hands.
the previous owners looked to be using wood shavings that may have irritated the bird, im not sure if this could be a possible cause for the loss of the feather, maybe an accident on the way to the auction, not quite sure.

some people mention feather loss around the face with sinus??
what are cures for sinus in birds?
if this is the case, that anyone may know of?

IF they were house to go into the auction, different things might of happen such as crowding and flopping or fighting with one another within the same cage. But you should find a vet to have them checked out since you got them from an auction. I will always be real careful about purchasing birds from such places....

Ive also read that birds can be poofy. Too much??
What is too much for a bird?
He seems poofy often.

That's why you need to have them examined by a avian vet! We can only tell you so much as we're not vets nor can we see them in person. There's no home remedies for diseases/viruses.

Please do not purchase a mite protector!

Feather loss can be caused by over-preening (especially if there is another bird in the cage), rubbing against something (foot, cage bars, toys, etc), illness (PBFD, or???) or other causes.

I'd say for now to keep an eye on the feathers and see if it's getting worse, staying the same or getting better. In the meantime, find an avian vet.

Sinus problems can be caused by a lack of vitamin A, bacterial or fungal infections.

Here are some places to start searching for an avian vet.
