Hello, I have a blue and gold macaw that is 5 years old and noticed something white and gooey on the lower half of his eyeball that goes in and out of the skin and when its out it rests on the lower half of the eye. I have not seen this before and it is not occurring on the other eye. thanks for your help!

Sounds like it could be several different things from an infections to a cut that has enflamed. Point being, without a picture its nothing more than guessing.

Eyes are important and it is better to be safe and set-up a visit to your local Certified Avian Vet and the sooner the better as such problems can become serious quickly!

Hello, and welcome to the Parrot Forums family!

I agree with SailBoat on both counts. A picture would give us a better chance of identifying the issue. More importantly, however, is the importance of getting your B&G to a certified avian vet as soon as possible. Health issues with parrots can indeed take a turn for the worse with tragic suddenness.

AVIAN CERTIFIED VET - NOW!!

You don't wait on stuff like this... if it's an infection that could be cured with an ointment - or cause blindness if you don't deal with it in time.

VET!!!
