I ran across this link on another forum. They were discussing a macaw seen @ a zoo that was solid red w/blue feathers on the wing. Several photos were presented of different bird w/the same colors. Some thought it was a St Croix Macaw. It was an old thread (2008) brought up by someone who said they have one for sale. Wouldn't be amazing if it was discovered that this bird was not extinct. We seem to have alot of macaw 'perts on here, what do you think?

Here is the contact info in case someone would like to call
"im selling a st croix macaw if intrested please call me at 7874583570 ask 4 machito. he could be probly the last of his species"

Could this be real?

I mean there could be a small chance that it's real, but if it is true he shouldn't have it or being trying to sell it

If they had one, wouldn't they call the zoo? At the zoo, it is possible for them to have nearly extinct species like the Spix Macaw at the Busch Gardens down in Tampa. I went down there to look for them, unfortunately I did not see them. They had a pair and one of the pair died. So they had just one left, but they have a breeding program down in Brazil for them. I have read long ago that they have found a couple of birds thought to be completely extinct. Some still do live in parts of the forrest where modern civilization aren't around.

It makes me sad that human are the cause of the beautiful birds to be in extinction.

I have been doing more research on this & the only evidence of this macaw is bones found in a kitchen midden. Tell me how they determine the color of a bird so exactly from a bone. I'm wondering if this isn't a urban myth.
I'm not really saying that there are not birds out there from a species we don't know about or think extinct. But there can be no way you could definitely say it was a St Croix Macaw.
