Every month or two, I try to scritch the Rickeybird's nape the way I did in his pre-rooster days, and he screams "OWWWWWWWWW" and turns to bite and with that warning and a bit of luck I'm fast enough to get away.

Kiwi used to bite me in the face too Now he preens my face Time, time and more time (oh and keeping a healthy distance during the breeding season once they're "of age").

I really like to give her kisses. I adore her just a little bit this morning bite thing. It's one bite and thats it, total cuddle bug. What's up with that? This is only a guess, but I think shes actually mad that she's locked in her cage when she wakes up.

Same! 2 out of 5, ouch! What works for me, is offering the hard part of my nose for a kiss, JoJo can't nip! So we do our kiss kiss routine and no blood!

Perhaps just a tad grouchy in the morning then? I usually let Kiwi eat and wake up before any kissing or playing. Much safer than impromptu, unwanted facial reconstruction
