Willie slowly, just so slowy is starting to grow into his real nature. At the beginning of December he finally allowed me to scratch his chin without bars between us.
This last Saturday he was on his play stand in the kitchen while my son and I were having "dinner and a beer". Willie kept repeating something like 'epup' over and over. I kept repeating it after him until my son started at me disapprovingly and stopped me with the words "MOTHER ! He is saying he wants to step up!". Whaaat????? "Epp Upp"!
Darn it what kind of a translator am I anyway??? STEP UP! Really????? Ahh, the coward in me rose to the occasion with a vengeance! I could still remember the awesome strength of Willie's "vice" clamping down and grinding deeper and deeper into my arm... I took a large swig of beer.....closed my eyes, and thrust my hand against Willie's chest with more bravado than I was feeling.

He
stepped
up!

I'm sitting here now, and he's beside me on his cage asking to "Epp Upp"...I've also graduated to a full head rub.
I have another early Christmas present to report, but I'll post about that one in the Quaker Forums!
There's hope, hope for all my wretches
A Merry Christmas and/or Happy End of Year to you all, and may 2016 bring us all many EpppUpps!
