I know some of you enjoy the snakes so I wanted to share:D My het albino Chinese beauty is in the middle of laying and has 7 eggs so far. I'm super excited! I'm waiting until morning to see how many she has should be all finished up by then:)

This is my first breeding attempt so we will see how the incubation goes!

I am not a snake lover but I love learning. Congrats!! And tell us what next steps are. I see multiple eggs but she looks so small! And am I seeing three eggs???

Thanks:) She is probably about 5ft I never measured her. Her last clutch with the person I bought her from was 7 so I'm excited that it seems she's laying even more for me! So far she has 7 they are kind if piled up right now. When I move them to the incubator in the morning I can get a final count for everyone! After they move to the incubator I'll just be waiting for a while and opening the incubator periodically for fresh air since it's a homemade incubator without any air circulation. The incubator has been setup since I saw she went into her prelay shed over a week ago. Was just waiting on the eggs to show up to stick them in it:D

I'll sell most of them. Holding back at least one most likely a female. Of course that's only if incubation goes well!

I have 9 eggs! Moved them into the incubator already.

A total of 9?????? WOW!!!!!! How long before they hatch, and how will you "wrangle" them? Will they hatch at once? I'm thinking they won't. See how uneducated on snakes I am? However I'm very intrigued.

That's exciting! Good luck with the hatching. Looking forward to seeing the babies! Will they be the same color as her, or different morphs?

55-77 days is what I have read to be the average. I'm incubating at a lower temp (have it set to 78.5 but the alarms are set for a range of 76.5 to 80.0) so it will be a bit on the longer end. I'm guessing 65-70 days maybe. They will hatch all around the same time....so long. The waiting will be difficult!

Sorry missed the wrangle part lol. Just pick them up and move them to another container! The first bit will be a container with moss for their first shed then I'll move them into individual setups.

That's exciting! Good luck with the hatching. Looking forward to seeing the babies! Will they be the same color as her, or different morphs?

Some will look like her and the others will look like dad! Roy is dad:D Mom is a normal and dad is an albino.

What do the real little babes eat? Insects or right on to fetal mice?

Now I was doing great until we came to this bit...insects okay but baby mice would be a no no for me for I kinda like baby mice :) Gorgeous pics Riddick07 and wonderful that you got 9 eggs I hope they all hatch out for you and that all goes well. I know nothing about snakes but your momma snake is very prettily coloured. Does momma look after the babies at all ...even in the wild without an incubator would she? Or are they born to fend for themselves? Does the dad do anything other than impregnate the mom ? When the babies are hatched do the male ones take after their dad and the females have their moms colouring or can they be all mixed up with some females being like dad and others like mom and the same with the males. I never even knew snakes layed eggs until now ...really wonderful to see...Thankyou. I will be looking forward to seeing the babies in over 57 days or however much extra time they need to hatch. Best of Luck with your venture and I hope you dont find the waiting too long :)

Haha, most and snakes are fed frozen mice, not alive (it's safer for them anyway.)

And the parents aren't involved at all, they'll pretty much have to fend for themselves in the wild!

Right on to mice.

They generally don't do much with the eggs. I have read that some beauty snakes have shown a defensiveness over them but I don't think it's overly common. When the eggs hatch they are on their own! Dad doesn't do anything. He courts the female for awhile but loses interest after awhile and moves on before the eggs are laid or even ovulation has occurred. The sex is not determined by the parents coloring. They will be all mixed up!

There are snakes that give live birth including boas.

This is very interesting. Can't wait to see the babies

I can't wait either! So far everything seems good in the incubator:)

I feed everyone frozen like you have said. If any of the hatchlings show issue with starting on frozen I will feed live. I don't expect to have any issue with it they aren't known for having any real feeding problems.

NINE...Nine...nine...nine.
Nine little snakies running around lose in your home. :D

AND now you got us all excited and we have to wait for two LONG months!

I hope all goes well.

Do you have any others that you are waiting on eggs for?

Haha I've been disturbing her for days now looking for eggs. So excited when I saw them finally! She's my only adult female beauty. So I don't have any more. Unless I pick up another adult female she will also be the only one next season too. The season after that though I might have 3 females depends on how my two young females grow! I think my hypocalico will definitely be ready by then. She's growing like crazy right now.

The eggs are doing great! They all look good I'll probably see if I can spot some veins soon. I'm surprised at how well my home made incubator is doing:20: I guess its because it didn't require building just throwing things together lol

8/9 have veins:D Either the 9th is really slow or it isn't good.

Lol it's always funny to post about snakes on non-reptile forums. Remind me what else you keep?

I have a BCI boa, green tree python (cyclops x meruke), and an chacoan "giant" tegu.

Too many....lol

2.3 Chinese Beauty, 1.0 White Sided Rat, 0.1 Albino Grey, 0.1 Suboc, 0.1 Stillwater Hypo Bull, 1.0 50/50 Cal King, 0.1 Black Milk, 1.2 Corns, 1.2 Ball Python, 1.0 Woma, 1.1 Tarahumara Boa, 1.3 BCI, 1.0 Jaguar Carpet, 0.1 Purple Sunfire Retic, 2.0 Bearded Dragons

I would love a tegu and monitors but the snakes and birds already take up too much room....maybe one day!

I presume all the above are snakes ? Yes ? No? Great thst you see signs of life in 8 of the eggs. Hope all 8 hatch out for you and perhaps number 9 will surprise you yet and hatch out too. Is this your first time hatching baby snakes out or just your first time using the incubator. Best of Luck with your venture.... its really interesting :)
