So about 1 month ago, my 'tiels laid eggs. As from the title I'm pretty sure we all hoped about it to be fertile. Sadly it wasn't. And it was the second time they laid eggs. The first time was only 1 egg, many days later is when the made a clutch of 4 eggs. Next time they lay, what can I do to have higher chance to have a healthy chick? (if it was fertile) Should I buy a little incubator? What are best foods? Should I give them their time alone when Lora (The female) is pregnant? Answers would be appreciated :)

I have no clue. Are they actually breeding though? I know she can lay eggs without them even breeding so they wouldn't be fertile. Lol

give them firm perches so the can make a connection:rolleyes:

sometimes it takes a bit of practice on both their parts.

I had a pair of lovebirds who 'practiced' for 3 months, not once did they produce a fertile egg....until they finally 'connected'

I was ready to give up....but they kept practicing (if you know what I mean).....they ended up being my most productive pair producing 5 chicks in every clutch.

they used the same perch, in the same way every time, nothing else seem to suit them or work as well.

just give it time, depending on their age, if they are too young this will happen.
you know what they say practice makes perfect ha ha:D

They may need lots of practice but one or both may not be fertile as that does happen. I have a infertile pair. Just make sure you provide extra cuttle bone if she's laying.

Yeah, it was their 2nd clutch. And she IS with my other male cockatiel. They did bond too. But they may actually be a quitter because I candled one (Didn't have enough time to candle others) and it had a little red vein. I kept the eggs for 3 months now. Should I remove them? As my dad says their wasting their energy on nothing. They lay in a wooden house I bought them. It has pretty much space and they tore some of the house and built a nest.

They should hatch around 19-21 days, if it's 3 months, toss them. During incubation, mist the eggs daily with a water bottle or bring up the humidity within the room otherwise the embryos may die before fully developed.

I'll try to remove the eggs today.. But I'm not throwing them like that in the bin. Perhaps put them in a box and bury those infertile eggs?
