Blue Fronted Amazon and two Cockatiels
Help... My blue fronted Amazon (5 years old) has been acting like she's trying to lay an egg. It has been going on for about 2 weeks. Loud clucking and bearing down. I've read about egg binding but don't think that's the problem
She is eating, playing and interacting regularly otherwise.
Help!!!!! Please

Hi Vickie! Does your BF have a nest box in her cage? Amazons usually don't lay any eggs unless they're provided with a nest box. :)

Your girl sounds quite hormonal, which is perfectly normal for this time of year. :54:

Here, please have a look at Laura's (labell's) YN. She's also going through 'quite' the stage right now.

thanks so much for the info. No I don't have a nest box for her but will fix that soon. Should I replace eggs with dummies? Do I let her sit on them? Sorry for all the questions but I'm sort of a newbie. My cockatiels will insist on a nest box and get very protective of their eggs. I was told to take the egg when she lays.Wont that make her produce more????
Me and Jennie say " thanks"

No, no...please don't give her a nestbox. That will 'entice' her to possibly lay eggs, and you don't want her to. ;)

Please, never worry about asking any questions, that's what we're all here for, and we'll try our best to give good and accurate advice. :)
