I own a male rosella and a female cockatiel who i keep on the same cage as they were raised together since babys.
And recently, i noticed that my cockatiel cinnamon has been displaying what seems to be mating behavior... She gets really close to rosi and lowers her body while lifting the tail and making some strange noises for a few secounds before she goes away.
Rosi doesnt do anything when she does that and always rejects her from what i can see, but so many toughts have been worrying me and i needed some opinions from other bird lovers.
Im pretty sure rosi wont try to mate with cinnamon and im beying carefull for it to not happen. But what really worries me is if that hormonal behavior leads cinnamon to lay eggs... i notice shes been getting on top of her food dish and just sitting there for a while, she doesnt seem to want to fly either and is more clingly with cuddling than usual.
I have been a bit paranoid cause of all the problems i heard that egg laying can lead to and it honestly scares me, if she ends up laying eggs, what should i do? should i take them away to make her stop? just let her do her thing? or ways to make this behavior stop and to prevent problems from happening?
