We had immunisation at our school today.....

It was scary, you didn't know what to expect. Some people came out crying and feeling really ill, some came out saying it was a breeze. One person even screamed.

I went in, and she asked me questions. Just hurry up and jab me with the darn needle! I watched it go in, yuck.
I could feel it releasing the fluid under my skin.

Now my arm is heavy and feels weird.


I have figured out from that experience I do not like needles.

I'm sorry this was traumatic. Any medical proceedure can be scary. If you were closer, I'd take you out for ice cream.

But remember, vaccines keep you healthy. With vaccines, small pox has been wiped out globally and we're getting close to wiping out polio.

Ahhhh Ratzy, you will take some comfort in the fact that that big jab you just had is probably the worst one you will ever have!

You are just going to Big School, yes? That one is the worst....we all have that very pretty circle scar from it!!

They used to give us testers on our wrist first to check for allergy....did you get that?

Not fun but necessary. Remember, the more you stress the more it hurts!! (since it goes through skin and muscles, if your muscles are tense it'll hurt them.) So the best you can do is mind yourself to ignore the needle with deep breaths. Works with everything from blood tests to vaccines.

If only. Antivax people have been scaring lots of parents with lies and we are losing herd immunity in some parts of countries... Now these maladies are making a comeback.

I hadn't heard about small pox coming back. Ugh! I have heard about some polio cases, but I thought they were more isolated.

Yea I think I actually mixed smallpox with something else here. I don't think there's been any case in decades. There's been plenty Polio going around though. The antivax people are rather selfish. they think their kid won't die from it, that it'll make them stronger.... Maybe (No. Won't make them stronger. Bloody ridiculous). Fine. But the baby that can't be vaccinated NEEDS herd immunity. Sigh. Antivax is downright misinformed murder...
