Eclectus or Galah?

I'm new so I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong subforum.

So I own an African Grey, Yellow-crowned Amazon, and a green-cheeked conure. I'm looking into buying a new bird. I'm debating between a Galah or an Eclectus. I don't know much about them, I've started reading a lot but I'm still not sure which one to get. So I would love it if members here can help me decide or share with me any information that could be useful. Thanks!

Two fairly different parrots with fairly different needs, including diet.

I would recommend that you read the specific forums for each and get a feeling as to which fits your world.

You already have several parrots that in and of themselves require lots of one-on-one time. Determine if you have the time for yet another parrot that will require as much time, if not more.

Welcome the the Parrot Forums!

A friend has an Ekkie, I have a Galah, we're both in multiple bird households and I have no way to recommend one over the other....
If you are set on another big parrot, go visiting and see if it's the Galah or the Eclectus that chooses you :) Breeders, rescues etc.
As Sailboat said - both birds need fiddly diets. Ekkie's more so to my understanding - I haven't looked too much into theirs to be honest because I don't have one. But Galah's are prone to fatty tumours so need to be watched carefully too.

I've never owned an Eckie but I have a 13-year-old Galah that I've had since he was a newly weaned baby. While he does get the occasional treat, he's been on a pelleted and fresh food diet for all those years and he doesn't have fatty tumors. He spends nice days in an outdoor aviary and while he has marginally clipped wings for safety he can still fly well. Galahs, like cockatiels, are very aerodynamic, even clipped. I also have a Grey that he has been caged next to his entire life. While they're not friends, per se, they do consider themselves neighbors and call to one another if one or the other is removed from the room and they eat, nap, bathe, and play at the same time. They're both pretty dusty but the Grey is dustier by far. I can think of NOTHING negative to say about my Galah. He really acts like a big, pink cockatiel in temperament. Mine is also really social and will go to anyone I hand him to. He also talks really clearly and a lot. Good luck on your choice.
