I have a gorgeous female Solomon Island Eclectus named Oriana. I raised her from the time she was a grey ball of fuzz. She attended college, etc. with me and is very well socialized. She has even done pet therapy in nursing homes, etc. She is nearly 14. I suffered through her terrible twos and temper tantrums. Each spring for a few weeks she gets a little more needy than usual. However, starting last month, she raised it to a new level. She screams constantly if she is not with me, and she has taken a few nips at my husband. The most distinct behavior though is that she wants to rub her beak against my cheek and lips constantly. She will do this as long as I let her making her sweet clucking sound. She has never been a huge talker, but she does know several words. In between clucks she sweetly says "hello" to me over and over again in a gentle voice. While she has displayed these behaviors to a lesser extent in past years, this year they are extreme for her. Is there a hormonal change that takes place at around 14 years old for eclectus?
