Eclectus feather problem please help...!!!

Hello everyone... im new ro this site butbloving it already ..i was wondering if anyone can help

I have a female eclectus around 10 months she is going throighbher first molt but its very bad she is almost completely bold ...ill attach a photo
I tokk her to the vet they say she is healthy and has no diseases ...she is just a slow molter
I feed her pellets and plenty of fresh fruits and vegtables...she is active and talks a lot..
Please help i really dont want her to be sick noboby at my vetcan really tell me wats wrong with her..

I was thinking that too..but her head is bold she cannot reach there.. do i reallt dont know whtas wrong with my ekkie...

Oh that poor girl! Has she been tested for mites or other possible parasites?

How long has she looked like this? Was she fully feathered when you got her?

Eclectus THRIVE on fresh foods, so try and eliminate a good portion of the pellets, please.

You really need to get her to a vet, this is not normal at all I would also have though plucking, but her head is also bald where she cannot reach as you pointed out. Are you able to contact her breeder? They may be able to help you find a vet, or offer some advice.

Thanks for the replies everone ...yes has been tested for mites and give medisine toe prevent them...she has been like this for almost 3 months now...ahe gets fresh fruitn like apple,banana,carrot,sprouted seeds etc...i bought her at a pet shop and she was fine...gullybfeather anf then she started to molt and kwpt losing feathers...

Did they test her for beak and feather disease? Poor girl, you must be very worried. I would find a new vet. Seems like they really didn't give you very good answers/information. Is she acting normal? You mentioned mostly fruits and sprouts. Is she getting lots of veggies too?
I hope you get to the bottom of this. Please keep us posted.

I would definitely look for another veterinarian, one that specialized in birds. If it has been months, and new feathers are not appearing, this is not a normal molt! Poor nekkid girl!

Ill do my best yes they didnt really help me at all...yes she is completely normal she talks and is active.. yes she gets her vegetables like broccoli..colliflower ...pumpkin etc... im am really worried the vet said that she is perfectly healthy she doesnt have feather and beak disease...

Yes i know she looks bad.. i live in south africa we dont lotsbof avain vets...i really just want her bettee she has feathers coming out...but not all theblike they should...

I also recommend finding an avian specialised vet. If you have to drive a good distance it would definately be worth it. You need some answers ! Poor girl, do you have pedicure perches in her cage ? My girl Ruby used her pedicure perches to rub a bald spot by her eye when she was upset with my being away from home more than normal. She has since stopped it, since I am home all the time again.

you should contact Antonietta, she is also located and south Africa and may be able to recommend a good avian vet.

Well if you can find an avian vet, even if it is a long drive I would try that. It would be worth getting good advice! Hoping things turn out well. I agree not a normal mount at all!

many of us do drive long distances to get to vets, several hours even(luckily my vet is only 40 minutes away). and for a case like your eclectus you really need a specialist help.

Just be careful if you decide to drive a distance to a vet, bring a friend and make sure you don't go through any dangerous areas.

Thanks a lot for all of your help...yes its true i dont care to drive ...just dont know where there are any avian vets...but she is itching al lot though as if the molt is beginning to progress ...still dont know what to think...so confused love this bird to bits...just want her to get better..!!!!@

That is not a molt issue IMO. As other members have said I would go to an Avian Specialits. Do you mind if I ask a few Q's?
What diet is she on?
What test did your doctor run?
Has a blood profile been run?
When you purchased her was it from a breeder or shop? If so did they perform any test prior to giving you the bird? (Some breeders test their babies for common diseases prior to sending them to their new homes)
What type of feathers did you notice falling from your birds cage? - Feathers with the full shaft or broken ones then shafts or a mix?
How often do you bath her?

Hello no not at all...thank you for youre help
Her diet consists of fresh fruit, vegetables and pellets. She gets premolt calcium powder in her water and the vet gave me allergy medisyne that she must get everyday. The vet tested a sample of her poop and siad that they found no traces of diseases. She is healthy just molting slowly. She doesnt have a blood profile.
We bought her at a petmasters petshop as a baby at 2 month's, she was fully feathered till about 2 month's ago dont know if she was teasted for anything...she started losing feathers on top of her head.
The feathers fell out fully shafted but are now beginning to break

Hmmm I know nothing about you bird, except that is not a normal molt. My parrotlet is in a heavy molt, she is not a happy camper right now and has lots of pin feathers that are coming in to replace the old feathers, but no where on her body is she bald and she covered with pin feathers.

Did anything happen or change right before her feathers started coming out?

Was she tested for PBFD, Parrot Beak and Feather Disease??? Since you say the vet says she doesn't have it, was she tested or not? Testing it is the only sure way to tell! They need food with high beta carotene in it such as carrots, sweet potatoes and such. Please introduce those foods as well. Eliminate the pellets as it can cause more harm then good in Eclectus Parrots!!!! There's sooooo many things you can cook for them to keep them healthy. I also give just a table spoon full of seeds to my pair every evening. So you would do half a table spoon for just one. Mainly small seeds! Don't over do it on sunflower seeds, they get maybe 4 sunflower seeds.

Thank you for the advice it really helps i cut down on the pellets she is getting plenty of fruit and vegatbles
Im taking her to a avian vet soon to get to the bottum of this
But she is actice and still cute lol love my ekkie
