So I have been trying to find an easy way to hang my perches. We want a natural look so all the perches are grape vines of various sizes, some small, some very large. My issue has been how to hang them. In our aviary, once done, we will not be able to access both sides of the wire, only the inside. I didn't want to hang anything permanent. Finally had the eureka moment. I got some stainless steel eye screws from local hardware store and viola :D success!

Now here is what I LOVE about this idea. The gap in the eye screw is just large enough to hook onto the wire, they are not permanent this way. If I want to remove the perch all I have to do is un hook them from the wire. They can be replaced easily this way, no chains or ropes are needed, and no tools either. If I want to move them around its super easy! Just thought I'd share, as I had been trying to figure this out for a while now.

That is honestly the best idea ever!!! I always have troubles figuring out how to get a branch to stay up! Usually end up using so much rope and messing around when i want to move it!
Thank you :)

I hope it helps!;) I have been spending months trying to figure it out! We are putting screen on the outside of the aviary, so we wont have any access to the other side of the wire. I have been very perplexed as to how to hang the perches. :D

That is a BRILLIANT idea!!! :D

Gosh, I can't wait for it to be done...and I'm sure you can't either. :)

Rome cant either. I tested her on the perch last night, it was close to dusk, I didn't think she would step up on it - turns out I couldn't get her off of it. They've been watching us build it. Rome is the only flighted one that I have right now that I trust in an open environment (the door hasn't been made yet), so shes the only one thats been in it. Shes been coming in to 'help' us with the project from time to time. :D

Looks so nice! Your project is going to be so much fun for you and birds.
I am new to this forum, so I am sure I missed it, but may I ask you what wire mesh are you using for the aviary and where are you getting it.
I am thinking of building one outside myself....:)
Thanks a lot!

Rome was probably thinking along the lines: "Hey now, you show me paradise, you bring me INTO paradise, and then you want to take me out again? Nah-aaah!!!!!" LOL

I swear, you aviary has my head spinning....trying to come up with ways to build SOMETHING for my fids in the back yard. :)

Haha! I CANT wait to see it when its finished!! Your flock are going to be soo happy! :09: Those long months of designing everything will certainly pay off! :D
and yes it was very helpful, thank you again! Now to ask my dad if he can pretty please go to the hardware store :54:

it reminds me of a wacky wood. I have several in all of my cages and my birds love them.

but I love your great idea, cause it's free, other than the eye screws...I love it!

Great idea!!!!

I've seen other ways to hang perches, too... which may be something to look into if what you have now doesn't work to your liking later on? Or at least as another option for hanging perches! And the "V" shaped ones appear to be temporary attachments as well!
