Hi guys!

The admin/mod team here is amazing!! So kind and understanding, yet firm when required. You all help keep this a safe place where we can put our fids first and share knowledge with each other.

I do notice, though, that when the Western hemisphere goes to sleep, the mods do to! (Not blaming y'all for needing sleep :p) But people from the other side of the world post whilst you are sleeping, and sometimes I worry about things getting out of hand without your careful watch (whether it be thread getting out of hand or newbies who urgently need help going relatively unsupported until it's late at night for them).

Would it be possible for you guys to find an Eastern hemisphere mod or two who can help out while the Western hemisphere sleeps? Just putting it out there as something to consider - I don't need an answer :)

Much love!! :smile015:

Thank you! You just gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. We do try hard, and we do love birds, AND this site, so it's an honor to moderate.

We love suggestions and comments.

That's an interesting thought... I'm sure the Mod Team will chat about it.

Thank you again. :)

Thank you, charmedbyekkie, for your kind words. We really appreciate that.

As to your question, historically we have had mods from the Eastern hemisphere on our staff as well. Most notably Australia and South Africa. (Betrisher, Tab_xo and Antoinette spring immediately to mind. All had long and distinguished tenures as mods, and are still missed.) So it's not that we exclusively seek Western Hemisphere representation. Lol! But as it happens, yes, our current roster is composed of mods from the U.S and Canada.

Our Mod Team is quite slow and deliberate when it comes to team expansion, and for very good reason. We've recently expanded our roster by two, so it might be a little time yet before we do so again, but believe me, such considerations of round-the-clock coverage (along with a host of others) are always kept in mind.

But thank you for your considered and thoughtful suggestion. We always love hearing our members' suggestions for what might make our site better.

I have nothing to add since Stephen's post covered it so well, but wanted to say thank you for your kind words! They are much appreciated:)

Thanks so much for your sweet sentiments! One of the facets I treasure is the global membership. The love of birds knows no geographical boundary or ideology! An Eastern Hemisphere mod would indeed provide near total coverage.
