For the past couple of days my female 4 1/2 yr old DYH has been in somewhat of a mood, I have actually not ever been bitten by her sometimes when i ask her to step up she will bite my finger with very little pressure which i ignore and she steps up with no issues, but i have only had her for 5 months and i try my best to read her moods and respect them, although i'm sure at some point in time i will experience the pain of her bite. Now to the question part lol she has been lunging at me through the cage and fanning her tail and pinning her eyes while talking and dancing...when she does this i continue like nothing happened and continue to talk to her for a minute or so before walking away because i don't want her to think i am scared of her, am i doing the right thing or should i turn my back on her when she does this? I was just thinking about this earlier, i don't want to encourage the behavior...so am i messing up and making her think this is ok and a game? Should i turn my back, or would that make it seem like she has won?

I think you are doing the right thing. How does she act after you walk away for a bit and then come back? If she's fine, and is done "displaying", I think your method is working. :)

sometimes she is fine, others she will talk and sing and then lunge at me again, she hasn't been out of her cage in 3 days now, but her cage is literally 5 feet away from the desk i sit at all day, every once in a while she will go 2-4 days without wanting to come out and i don't force her unless its necessary, because even when she is in the cage i talk to her all day, if someone could secretly watch me all day they would probably think i am nuts bahahaha....the crazy thing is that she only lunges at me my friend was here earlier and was talking to her she was displaying, but no lunging, actually she has never lunged at anyone but me and only a few times before now :(

just to add she was previously owned by a man, but seems to be more trusting of me than my husband, because she is around people quite often we get a lot of the "get her to talk" i am rarely ever able to get her to but my husband ALWAYS can (not gonna lie it makes me kinda jealous) i normally tell whoever to act like she's not there, which works most of the time it is forbidden for someone to not notice her lol....sorry now i'm rambling i swear i could talk about her all day and never get bored

She sounds like a whole lot of fun. :D

Does she have a playstand away from her cage? Something like that may come in handy if you don't want her to become cage aggressive, or cage bound.

I'd suggest coaxing her out, perhaps on a perch, and walk away from the cage, into a different room. I bet her attitude will improve instantly. :):D

she does have a playstand, its right behind my desk, thats where she normally is if she's out, or on my desk...she likes to chew the buttons on my calculator lol, i did open her cage door earlier and she was climbing all over the outside of her cage until i started to vacuum, she went back in her cage and shut the door lol
