Ugggghhhh hormones are back with a vengeance. This year it seems to be presenting with shrilly squawks and this antsy manic energy that are quickly wearing on my nerves:mad: Nothing I do seems to sooth him either. He doesn't want to hang out, he doesn't want to be left alone. He doesn't want something to chew up or to play with his foraging toys. A bath doesn't help, a time out doesn't help. Nope, just wants to pace and shriek. Doesn't help our landlords are out of town so I am taking care of their bird until they get back. Their bird (IRN) is calling out for them all day and Kiwi is now calling back. I have 2 birds hollering back and forth right now in a most unpleasant tone of voice:52: We have rented their basement for over a year now and he hears their bird making noises every day and doesn't call back to him. This isn't even the first time we've watched their bird where he calls out for them all day until they come back. I understand why their bird is being loud (he misses his owners), but why has Kiwi decided all of a sudden to get loud too (I'm right here!)? I think the pair have conspired against me to make me go insane:30: Why must parrots be so frustrating this time of year:31:?

I feel for you April! So the times before when you've watched the IRN, Kiwi wasn't in hormonal mode I guess? I bet that's what it is. He's already excitable, and now add a screaming other bird! Unless, as you say... They're conspiring against you :p. "Let's see how much this human can take" lol.

When do the owners return? So how loud is the IRN compared to Kiwi? Much more high pitched I believe, right?

I have watched Baby a few times now, but come to think of it, it was not around Kiwi's hormonal season. I don't know very much about IRN's so I have no idea if it's Baby's hormonal season too. He's no where near as bad as Kiwi has been though. He's calling out for his owners, Kiwi is just being a little such n such. Baby doesn't screech so much as 'chatter', whistle and holler "Hello Baby! Pretty bird!". And yes, it is very high pitched! Kiwi has to know another bird is up there as Baby is a vocal little thing, but they don't 'talk' back and forth normally (and certainly don't interact). I am personally betting on a birdie conspiracy and hoping it doesn't turn into a mutiny:16:

Uh oh, I'd be scared if I were you April .... Lol. A mutiny doesn't sound good, even if it's only two parrots :D

I hope so too, but I totally get the impression I'm going to get bit by both before the week is out:(

I feel your pain . I never knew about Birds and hormones. BB has been driving me nuts the last two days flock calling OMG . He never did it before. Forget touching him he wants no part of it Actually since he fell in love with his rope toy two weeks ago. It finally got in such bad shape I had to take it out just a few min ago and give it a good wash. Put a new one in but guess he does not love it as much . The new one is red. At least I have been told this is hormones. I will sure be glad when its over and my sweet bird returns. Along with my hearing

Zilla has recently the last few days started this high pitched short scream she never did before! I can only assume it's a flock call, since I've never heard a flock call before. She only does it when I am in the kitchen or down the hall in the bedroom, never when I am in the living, dining or office, but she can see me in those rooms and not in the others. I can hear it outside across the parking lot!

She has also started this other noise, it's like a cross between a whine and a growl. She loves to shove her head to the bottom of her food dish as far as she can get it and make this noise! Maybe it echos because her dishes are stainless steel??? She also gets on the bottom of her cage and makes it while shredding the papers.

My Macaw is doing the same thing with the dish. Sounds so funny . He can make the Echo now with out his head in the dish. HIIIIII HIIIIII LOL

It's nice I'm not the only one. If only parrots came with a mute button, they'd be perfect pets:D Today he's chewing up a chunk of wood (I gave him) so it's quieter. Baby the IRN is quiet too.... Perhaps a little too quiet:20: What are they planning?!
