so Parker has been soaking his pellets recently...normally not a problem except that i recently switched his to harrisons...it dissolves almost instantly...does he learn from this? NO he just goes and gets another piece and into the water it goes...he must not realize how much his food cost...lol...any ideas on how to stop him he did the same thing with his old pellets but they floated and didn't dissolve...i've gone through a 5lb bag in less than a month just for him...a handful twice a day...do you think that if I limit the amount I give him he will learn that if he drowns his food that's all he gets for the day

Could you find another type of water container for him. I would not take the chance of cutting down the food supply because their metabolism is too high. or moving the food or water dish to a less convient dunking spot? Or add another water dish for dunking onlly but just with a very small amt of water so he could drop it and it would just moisten it? Or you could get another job to keep him in pellets:rolleyes::D

Oh gosh do I commiserate! My Grey does that with his, as well. I feed him his Harrison's in his foraging toys not in his bowl, which seemed to break the cycle of food bowl to water bowl. You might try that.

I also feed Zupreem pellets, which I leave in his food bowl. Those don't dissolve AS fast but he still dunks them.

I don't want to switch to a water bottle (he actually ENJOYS dunking his food and I'd hate to rob him of the pleasure, plus, I think cleaning a water bottle thoroughly would be more difficult and time consuming that just changing water bowls three times a day).

Good luck!
