Finishing up at the vets last night with Salty, this older couple asked if I was interested in adopting a 53 year old DYH amazon. Seems they are the 3rd parronts , due to a death of the guys dad, and now the mother is in a home. The parrot hates the couple but loves the daughter, who is almost never home. We are not in a position to take on this big guys life, and I spent a good 1/2 hour talking with them, about this Forum, and in general about amazons. I hope they join, because if they could break the habit of this DYH's attacking them, they would keep him. Seems he has been fed from day one 53 yrs ago on sunflower seeds and peanuts table food. I explained all about that poor diet but they were like, he's survived 53 years already, blah blah blah. I have their contact info, to pass along if someone is interested. He's in good feather.
I warned them about surrendering him to a bird flipper ( had to explain that phrase to them) posing as a 'rescue'
'Boats, I could use your advice to help this old fellow out.
