I know many of you read about my experience with my friend's B&G, Dottie, while I was house sitting for them this spring. For those that don't know, Dottie was not acting herself so I took her to the University of Madison Veterinary Hospital where it was discovered she had a heart murmur and suspected heart failure. Since then, she's had other testing done and been put on medication. Her condition has waxed and waned in the months since.
This morning, my friend woke up to find that Dottie had passed in the night. It's really heartbreaking not only to see how devastated she is at the loss of her best friend, but that such a young bird lost her life way too soon. She was only 10 years old, but there wasn't really anything else that could have been done. The vet said with her diet, body condition, and age, it pretty much had to be a congenital condition, so something she was just born with. Until we meet again, sweet girl.
