I got Ollie in July, he came with a note saying he liked people food I especially peanut butter cracker and Fig Newtons. SHe is a junk food eater. I have been trying to convert her to pellets I have tried rhodybush(won't even taste it) zupreem and caitec oven bites. She will eat a few zupreem maybe 10 pellets daily and at night she picks at her chop. She won't eat nuts. Very selective about fruit. I feel the need to give her a seed mix to keep weight on her, yes she has lost a bit about 20-25 grams since I got her. The vet thought she was a little thin too suggested nutriberries/avicakesas a supplement, won't eat those either. It's there a seed mix that is better than others? she will eat seed, Thanks I hopefully I can effectually convert her to more pellets, but until then....

You need to be consistent and persistent to convert them over! She's been with you long enough to be converted to the new food. Stick to one type of pellet, don't keep on switching! Once they're used to eating pellets then do the switch if you want her to eat something else. The way I do it is leaving a bowl of pellets in one dish all day 24/7 and another bowl I feel fresh fruits and veggies in the day then during evening time if she's still eating some seeds, give like a table spoon full of seeds during evening time. I give no nut or treats for the time being until they fully switch over. During anytime you find them eating the pellets pretty good, then no more seeds during night feeding. Just pellets all day, fruits and veggies in the morning. No nuts or treats for a month or so. Once everything is going well then start offering treats and nuts. This method have worked for me even for the pickiest eater.

IF your concerning about the weight, you can put her on seeds for the time being until she gains some weight before trying this process!!!

I'm not switching, I had samples of caitec and Roudybush and mixed a little in with the Zupreem(natural). Would only eat the Zupreem. I leave pellets 24/7~ offer fruit and veggies in another dish, doesn't consume very much....maybe I am just used to what my macaw eats, because he eats everything!

Between my two macaws, Willie eats very little of his fresh food bowl, he's been doing that for years...He'll pick out stuffs he likes, a nibs a bit on the rest. He'll throw it if he doesn't like it but he eats his pellets good. Now Lola, she's a pig as she eats it all down to nothing. She LOVES fresh fruits and veggies, haven't find anything she doesn't like yet....Plus she gobbles up her pellets....I've checked for waste, and no she doesn't waste....lol

If you want a seed mix try one of goldenfeast's mixes California blend or Basic Parrot Plus both have seeds in them along with some nuts

Make your own seed mix. I get ABBA's cockatiel mix (very little sunflower) and add some pumpkin seeds or some pistachios in shell and roasted nuts to it, changing the proportions according to the species (grays and toos get more than zons and conures).

All my birds eat gloop, not pellets, and it's very easy to convert them to it (hardest one was a quaker until I realized she was depressed because I kept her caged waiting for her to finally switch, once I released her, she started eating everything -LOL)
