So i now have enough cash to get a collasable dog crate or somthing to keep lucky in for his car ride time but im not sure how large /wide it needs to be or anything i want to make sure he fit comphy its not somthing hell spend to much time i. But id fell more safe crating him rather than having him on the head reast or having to drag someone along with us

Okay, I needed to go back to your data to determine that Lucky is a Blue and Gold MAC. Since Carriers and Parrots come in a wide range of sizes, choosing the correct one is a combination of available cash and the size of your Parrot. Plus, the time and effort you want to put into assembling a metal carrier cage and belting it into place or obtaining a three piece plastic body with metal bar door.

For a B&G both are big and have a like cost associated costs!

Personally, I have a preference for the three piece plastic body style since, to me, it is easier to disassemble when a Parrot will not come out, even when tilting the cage!

Shop! look around at what is available and what fits into the door of your car!!!

Yes lol he's a big boy he weighs 960 to 970 grams lol
The style you have decribed sounds good as I'm a pretty small person and I want to make sure I can carry it to and from my ford explorer so rooms not to much of an issue. In all honesty I'm not sure how he's even going to take being crated

Glad you have the room! It is more a problem than you would believe - Parrot in cage and it will not fit in the door! You're right, that is not going to happen with an Explorer!

Most people buy a carrier the day before they need to load the Parrot - surprise the Parrot will not go in it!

The neat thing about the three piece plastic carriers is that you can bring it into his space a couple of week before the need to use it. The best way is to introduce it with time and in pieces. One week or two, place it together with several of his prized toys, etc. As you get closer, have play time with him along side the carrier, thus creating a comfort with the three of you being around each other and that the carrier is not going to kill him.

Upgrade: Consider adding a perch as part of the lower section. Its distances should be center of legs to just in front of the beak. This will allow him to hold onto the metal bars when the road gets bumpy! Something like a 2.5 - 3" (63 - 75 mm) would make a good perch size. The perch would be parallel to the door. As you are locating stuff and determine the size for the cage. Remember the Tail!!!

Enjoy!

I bought a folding metal wire dog crate for Gus, and it fits him size-wise...but it's heavy and awkward. Also I read that if you are in an accident or drop the crate, it can collapse or come apart. People's dogs have escaped or been injured in these crates. So now I'm going to get a plastic carrier for him and keep the metal one for a travel cage inside the room.

We have a PakOBird for Bacca. It's great for the car or plane or going to the vet or even as her night time cage when we're travelling.
