For the past 2 1/2 weeks poor Ben has been scratching so much and getting redder and redder. Has got a bunch of little cuts all over his legs from scratching. and the other vet had said to give benedryl until the poison ivy went away.. Jack Russell's can get it because the fur is so thin.. but it has only gotten worse.
I didn't realize dogs could have allergies similar to humans.. The vet said he has seen a few issues like this recently because stuff is growing faster than usual or something.. I don't know. Anyway he's been spending all his time in the bushes/weeds chasing this chipmunk.. the chipmunk teases him, I think.. because we have that underground fence with the collars it can get away from him easily. Now we have to move the fence (which I really don't like, anyway) out of the woods so he only runs on the cut grass. He'll still have like 2 1/2 acres to run on but I just feel so bad for him. He has enough antihistamine to start his tiny own lab in our basement now.. (kidding..) I can't believe we have to give our dog allergy medicine!
He cried like a little girl getting his shot! Poor little Ben!!!
Of course.. when we get home we notice our elderly dog, Mickie, limping.. Gave him some pain relief we will see how he is tonight. He probably just twisted something.. he's been running around much more since I started giving him rawhide treats again. I think they make his teeth feel better. (he's got bad teeth but too old for sedation/cleaning)
Our poor puppies!
