As SassyByrd matures, it seems, like so many of us, she has made up her mind that she likes things just so. Every so often, I will do something that requires a reprimand, but not a bite. For example, I made the birds a fresh "salad" today. Sass was up on her playpen on top of her cage. I brought her salad in and she climbed down her playpen to inspect the contents of the bowl. She studied the bowl and then studied it some more. Obviously I can't just stand in my living room holding a giant metal salad bowl for this crazy bird so I lowered the bowl into her cage to put it in the bowl holder. Little Ms. Sassy immediately pinched my finger. I was totally surprised. I guess I was supposed to hold the bowl until she selected something? Whatever the reason, it was obvious that I had misbehaved and so was disciplined, which really is so different in comparison to an angry bite. I don't pick up on body language beforehand and the pinches always take me by surprise. If I go to put her to bed and "rush" the rituals too much I'll also get schooled. Just little bizarre instances. The pinches are not painful at all, and they are not done out of anger. It's more like "firm communication"? I don't get the feeling like this will progress to actual bites but wanted to check in to see what you all think.....
