Hi everyone,, I need your help I need to find a conure PLEASE!.... Today I lost a friend.. My bird "cookie" is my world... I trained him to be smart.. But today was tragic... I woke up in the morning got dressed grab a cup of coffee from my wife went out side with cookie because I trained him to roll around and have fun in the grass... Well I put him down to play and he was having fun.. I took 2 steps back a HAWK! grabbed him and took him in a tree and ate him right in front of me... I am in full of pain and so is my 5 year old son..I had this conure for 3 years I took him from my in laws they never take him out always locked up.... I don't believe in locked cages I clip wings and off the door cage... If anyone one can help me find a conure please and if anyone know a donation bird website.. Where birds are abused or neglected ill train fix and play with the bird... Please help

Oh my goodness! :11: I am terribly sorry for your sudden loss of your Cookie. :(

Where are you located? We may be able to help you find a rescue nearby, or even a breeder, but we must know where you are located first.

There are no "general" websites for rescues who adopt to just about anyone nationwide.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, especially at this time of year makes it even tougher to get over. We lost our Black Lab also named Cookie 3 years ago to a severe stroke two days before Christmas. So like today as well as the last 3 years, will not be an easy day for me or my family.:(

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss!!!! That's a horrific sight to see.....

Have you checked with your local shelter and such???

Thank you, but no I don't have any babies left and I probably won't have babies again for awhile. I live in Nebraska too.
I wish you the best of luck finding a new buddy though!:03:

I am so sorry to lean about your loss.

Your loss brought back vivid memory of the day my Lily was attacked by 2 hawks at the same time. Luckily for my Lily and for my family, there was a happy ending. My Lily got away unscratched after the hawks made 3 passes/strikes at my Lily. Lily has always been a flighted bird, I think that's what saved her. We need to be extremely careful when taking our fids outside. Colorful birds stick out like sore thumbs for hawks. I have known hawks attacked enclosed chicken coupe, picked up small bird cage into the air and dropped it, and attacked outdoor aviary in Southern CA. I have written up a long story about my Lily dired escape from 2 hawks in another parrot forum. The story caught attention of a publisher and was published in a Parrots Story book. My family and I love Lily so much. I hope you will find another conure soon.

That's why I never take my bird outside unless he is in his small cage. I am scared of hawks because we have so many out where I live. Plus my bird is flighted and I would be in loads of trouble with the wife if I were to let him go.

I am sorry to hear about this, if the Hawk did that to my bird he would have gotten a pellet right between the the eyes. I am sure it's illegal to shot a hawk, but I live out in the country and I can assure you no hawk would get a free meal out of my pets. Man, I can't even picture the pain seeing that. :-( I hit a squirrel today (On Christmas) and I felt really bad.
