- Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(
And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I'm just kinda lamenting here. My beloved Smokey's passing is still hurting me deeply. Sometimes I have a difficult time looking at members pics of their wonderful Greys.
Here is a short story about Smokes. She was an impulse buy from a pet store, wild caught, about 6 months old. She only ate seed. I was a huge subscriber to Bird Talk and read everything I could about Greys, trying to tame her,get her to eat good stuff, only to have her throw it on the floor.
Get on my hand? NO WAY! She growled like a pack of dogs,or nipped at me.Even after 27 yrs I had to chase her to step up,then she'd tell me she was a "good girl"
About a year later a friend introduced me to Apollo, his Blue Front. I was never keen on a "green" parrot but this guy was handsome! all the colors!
So I looked in the back of a bird Talk and found a "breeder" of BF's and went to see. A huge cage with about 10 BF's in it and one inparticular kept following me around the cage looking at me. This is where Amy comes in
16 weeks old,had to hand feed her once at night for about two weeks..the breeder said it would help us bond. She was already eating pellets and got right into veggies and fruits and pasta etc.
Now Smokey see's what Amy is eating and must be thinking "hey? whats this stuff"? Thanks to Amy,Smokes began to eat healthy food.
But Smokes was jealous of AMY! Anytime they were out together and Amys back was turned that brat smokey would run up to her and yank her tail. After Smokey bit amys tongue and it required 5 stitches, I never let them get that close again.
If both cages were open, and I took amy into the kitchen with me for some one on one..5 minutes later Smokey is walking down the hall to check it out. Think she'd walk into the kitchen on her own? NO. only if amy was there..
Anyway...I miss the little grey girl...SNIFFF
