I remember a documentary several years ago that I think was filmed by National Geographic, which stared Kim Bassenger and Alec Baldwin. I believe they were in a South American jungle. What they could not answer, was why several hundred Macaws would fly to this particular side of a mountain, and eat clay. Have any of you seen this type of eating and a update if scientists have found out why ?

I don't know if this was it, but there's several great long video's to watch anyway. I'll continue searching.

I believe they do it to counter act the poisons that they eat..

The clay helps to stop 'tummy troubles' from all the bad food they eat. Since we know that things like avacado's are bad, so we don't feed them to birds, but the birds do not and will eat to survive, so they use the clay to settle their tummy and to stop getting ill from the toxic foods they eat :)

Just posted a link called Earthflight after reading this post. Last week was about this subject, macaws seek medicinal clay in the Amazon, , they need it because off the unripe fruit gives them indigestion.

Yep, I tried it and this is the quote on the viewer.

"Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only, but all BBC iPlayer Radio programmes are available to you. Why?
If you are in the UK and see this message please read this advice"

Guess I'll be flying over the big pond to watch it. lol

Maybe roxy can pick me up in her Lier Jet and fly us over ! :p

Lier Jet, huh? Shoot, if there's one thing I never want to learn, it would be flying planes, lol! I'm not a good passenger as they scare me. I like being on the ground. I'm not afraid of heights, but it's such a long distance to crash if something goes wrong, lol! I can put a roof on a house, but that's about as far up as I like to be, really.

They do! I don't know about that particular mountain, but they do sell clay in health food stores for detoxing. I was going to comment about it. lol.

I've used bentonite clay for detox reasons. I suppose I could give some to Puck. You have to drink a lot of water with it though.
