Parrots
i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
Well, here I am again, Surprise!! I wanted a little feedback as to how it's going. At this point Kiwi will come to the front of her cage (her bowls are located right under the opening for door) She will eat her food but then she will stay there and hang out. I can feel her snacks out of my hand, she seems a little frightened, but she is reaching closer and closer to me to get them! I have put my hand in her cage, no more screaming and lunging just avoiding me. I sat with her and played you tube videos of other amazons talking, making noise etc. She really seemed to like this! She would vocalize back to them. She has actually picked up her toy parts and held them in her feet and chewed on them a bit. (she had no toys when I met her) I am nervous because tomorrow morning is her vet appt. and I hate that I am going to force her out of the cage and I am going to be bringing her to the vet (yet another activity that I am going to do with her that will scare her and she will hate!)
I have not been able to get her to eat anything but her seed mixture and some snacks (freeze dried mango, don't yell but a potato chip, as a mom of three I am not above bribery!) I offer her fresh fruit and vegetables and have them in her cage at all times however she is not interested!
I am anxious to hear what the vet has to say tomorrow, my kids and my husband keep saying that we should keep her, I keep warning my husband that she could get really expensive as far as the vet goes.
Wish us luck!

Great Progress .. keep it up ~~

as said by those above :) an lol (i too have tempted nut into cage with a chip!) but once you've seen vet an have a good idea of her health issues, then make your choice then :)

To day is the big day!! Let us know what the vet says, keeping our fingers crossed because she needs you find folks to look after her.

You are doing hard work to eat her something ,but i think so she may feel uncomfortable while living alone, you should arrange a partner for her
