Do you have a separate "roosting" cage?

I'm reading "The Practical Pionus" (what a great book) and it recommends having a 12" x 12" or 15" x 15" cage for night roosting only. Given the author's reasoning (that wild Pi's do not sleep in the same areas where they spend the day) it seems like a logical idea, especially given that a Pi might be kept in its normal cage during the middle part of the day.

Just curious how many people here have taken this route?

I have the book. Russ Shade is THE authority on Pionus :). I don't use a sleeping cage. Many people do not. I cover my birds cages at night, but not everyone does. It's all a matter of personal preference. Also practicality, depending if your home has the space in an extra room or not. Bottom line is, if you don't use a separate sleep cage, it's not going to make an impact on his personality or comfort level or anything like that. Just be sure they get a good solid 10-12 hours of sleep (at the very LEAST 8).

None of my flock has a sleep/roosting cage either, though in nice weather they may stay in their shaded outdoor cages at night.....

Normally, if they want to come in for the night, they'll dance around their perches when I go out to put night snacks & fresh water dishes in their outdoor cages.....
