Hey guys! I know I haven't been on here much, but if you saw my last post you know I will be bringing home a new baby soon. Anyways, how many of you have a room just for your birds? Will you share pics of it please?! :)

We have decided that we are going to make use of our attic and make it into a livable 2nd story loft. You guessed it! That will be the new bird area in our house, and yes there will be a skylight as well. Although the attic is over all of the house, it's still an attic so there will be less room than appears. So if you have something similar please, please, PLEASE share with me! LOL I'm so excited, and we aren't even going to start this till after x-mas! :green2::green::white1::green1:

Only thing to think about with that one is hauling cages outside to wash them down... (Unless you steam clean them in place.)

I didn't think of that.. I usually do clean them in place though. They get dragged outside 2-3 times a year to be pressure washed.

I would be nervous about the attic being too hot or too cold, since they are often not well insulated. However, I think it would be a fun idea if you can make it work :) My bird room is nothing special, just the third bedroom. In fact, it has carpet :p

LOL! It will in fact be insulated like the rest of the house, It rarely get's "cold" here anyways. =p

I have an extra room that I have considered turning into 'the bird room' however, I have decided against it. Although I like the idea of a bird room, I don't think I could stand them not being in the family room with us all the time. I just don't feel they would be 'living with us' anymore if they were in another room. They definitely would not get all of the attention they get right now. Then again, I only have my 2 birds and I am happy with that for now. I think if I had more birds, I would want them in an aviary outside.

Thats a good point! I forgot to say, I will also use this space for an "office" so I will be there most of the day and definitely all morning. Just wont be around my dogs and cat but I figure that won't exactly be a bad thing.

I have a bird room because I have so many birds, and also because of my husband's career we sometimes have to entertain, and often there are evening events that go past "birdie bedtime." Also, some people are not comfortable with my birds, and I cannot afford that. Plus, it saves time and allows us to watch TV.

We have one large tree stand in the living room, and 3 small table stands as well as one rolling playpen, so we have lots of space with us for the birds to hang out :) It also provide my non tame birds with more privacy :) I love my bird room, but I think it only woks in certain households :)

I have a bird room and it is where I spend the majority of my time. It is just an extra bedroom but I have a tv and loveseat in there and hang out with the birds after work. My hubby works in the evening so he doesn't miss me.

Bird room? Try free run of the whole house lol and the resident bird just lets you live here to of the kindness of his heart;):green:

I personally am fine with Kiwi and his cage/plystand in the living room. He's very interested in everything we do and doesn't have a bird buddy, so it would actually be kind of mean to stick him away in his own room. I think bird rooms are great though for people with multiple birds as a place to 'contain' the mess, and set up a really fun environment!

Minus the 2 smaller bedrooms, they already have free run of the whole house lol! They will actually have more fly space up there than in my living room or any room for that matter, plus a LOT more sunlight! That was one of the first things that made us come up with the idea. My house is set up weird so there is not a ton of sunlight that gets in any room for a good amount of time each day. & like I said before, it will be my office/bird room so no dogs or cat will be there, not that they have issues but you never know.

Right now my "bird room" is our dining room. I have two indoor/outdoor area rugs down to keep flying pellets/food easily contained, and the budgies have a ladder from their cage to the bird tree. Right now we don't have a dining table and living in a three story-four level town home it didn't make sense to put them upstairs in the 2nd bedroom. we're moving soon though into a one level house (thank god, with the dogs in the basement, kitchen/living/bird room on the middle floor and bedrooms and laundry upstairs we get way too much climbing for our tastes). and will be turning the third bedroom into a bird only room.
