do private spaces generally trigger nesting?

I think Jenga would enjoy a large box or "fort" that she could retreat into, but I'm worried it would trigger egg laying which is the last thing I want! I'm too afraid of egg binding etc. to risk it.

Do private spaces generally trigger nesting? Is there a way that she can have her cake and eat it too?

I thought a happy hut might be nice so I built her one, but she doesn't seem interested - I think she'd prefer something solid and grounded rather than hanging.

Yes that will trigger her into nesting mode and she will lay eggs within. I would not put one up, they don't need it to be happy.

Most definitely it would. From my experience, any dark area (especially one that contains something to chew up, such as a cardboard box) will also trigger nesting behavior.

I have also had experience with my current Chattering being egg bound. Very scary experience, and caused lots of physical damage to her. After 3 years she healed up. We'd had our Chattering for 9 years and thought we had a male. She is 16.5 years old now and no other egg laying/egg bound problems since when she was 9yrs old. But we are super careful since then where we allow her to go and snuggle.
