Do larger parrots such as Macaws produce cecal poop? Chickens, turkey, quail, and other large bird/fowl produce cecal poop because they have cecal glands at the end of their lower intestine.

But since Macaws are large birds, do they produce cecal poop and if they do, would letting a macaw eat fermented feed reduce the cecal poop smell?

I am unaware of Hook Bill Parrots producing Cecal smell. When one narrow this down to Macaws, their natural range and therefore diet is very different from chickens. As they are mid to upper foliage feeders where chickens are ground to mid foliage feeders.

IMHO, I would not recommend fermented feed as Macaws target quality food sources and you would be introducing a bacteria blend that they gut would not be use too.

No, macaws and parrots don’t have cecal poops that smell bad.

I don’t believe parrots have a long cecum. maybe the kakapo (if I remember correctly) and other birds who feed on leaves and have a longer intestinal tract might have longer cecum/cecal pouches.

If your birds poops smell bad, he probably has an issue with bacterial overgrowth (or some other problem).

I have cultured cecal contents and they are FOUL.
