can you wear them out and have them just sit on your shoulder
for a few hours or on a basket or whatever?

or are they in continuous play mode when outside of their cage?

do they relax more when they are older? (4-6 years and beyond)

has anyone here ever had 2 cages for one bird?

we have one cage 20x20x29 (its to small we know) but
we are thinking to still use it in living room but have his main
cage (larger) in his own bedroom.

Bill, I've never seen caiques stand still for more then a few seconds. Like small children, they just seem to do stuff off the top of their heads. You know like " why did you smear peanut butter all over your face" - "I dont know"

I would not recommend 'his' own room unless your home is active all day and all night! With the exception of sleeping, that would be the only time I would recommend a sleeping cage in a sleeping room.

If they slow-down, they are either sick or very tired! They are a bundle of feathers and pure energy.

We have two cages and four perches for our DYH Amazon and he is busy all day between all of them and us. He will selectivity nap during the afternoon and than back to being active - he is nineteen + and is as busy as a young Amazon. At 500+ grams, he clearly out weights your guy, so enjoy your bundle of energy!

So, if you come across some one stating their life is so boring - just smile and move along, because you will never again have that statement cross your lips! :D

At some point, they 'may' elect to nap on our shoulder. Its a wonderful moment, savor it!

no no we don't have one! we are only considering one!
but we fear it maybe way too active for us.

we also were considering a cockatiel but I have allergies to pet dander.

sounds like you need a conure!

No dander, playful like a Caique but they do chill out and love a snuggle with their human

MY guy is almost 4 and when I'm home all he wants to do is play. When I'm at work my wife tells me he's pretty quiet with an occasional burst of "i need to kill my toys". The moment i get home he starts screaming for me to come get him to play, and he doesnt tolerate being ignored.

Basically think of it this way. If you get a Caique, your bringing home the energizer bunny on extra strength red bull, holding pliers with an insatiable need to use those pliers on everything.

But also tons of laughs and all love.
