Such as trying to towel train or clipping nails or having to clip wings? Obviously with love and care. I do not want to start a debate on clipping I have read alot on it and there is a thread below on it. I am trying to avoid an upset parrot, I also read how a travel cage or leaving your bird for more than a day may do it too. It just seems that amazons get ticked very quick.

Paco gets his nails/wings done at the vet so I am the good guy there...yay. But as far as the travel cage, Paco LOVES it. He knows it is his ticket to the outside world, whether it be to just go outside for some sun or a trip to work or out for ice cream. If they know most of the time it is for a good time, the times they go to the vet or whatever are fun too! We bring him through the drive through at Taco Bell after his vet visit for a few bites of taco shell and the shredded cheese on top and he thinks he went for a field trip for the day (it is a 2 hour trip each way!). We also sing in the car on the way down and back. So yes, they can like the travel cage. I have ever only been away from him for 2 days but there was no grudge there at all. I think it's all in the strength of the relationship.

Kiwi is usually pissy for the rest of the day after we groom him. He can stay mad a few days after we leave him to go on a trip. Amazons do have grudges, but so long as the infraction is minor and/or accidental (they CAN tell the difference between an accident and on purpose) they usually bounce back quickly. Treats are always helpful and I know of no amazon above taking bribes of tasty food;)

Now, when someone does something truly horrible to them, they may never forgive that individual and could well hold grudges against the whole gender or anyone who remotely resembles the person. It's why some amazon rescues are so hard to work with.

When I was visiting my BFA for a month before bringing her home, one of her aggressive clutchmates took a lunge at my hand as I returned her to the cage. My BFA got angry and went after her sister, who backed off. Then she was distracted by food, but as soon as she saw that sister again, she got angry all over again and lunged at her again. The sight of her sister reminded her of the recent offense.

I watched this happen a couple more times over the next five minutes, then it went away. They can retain anger, yes. How long it stays seems to vary wildly by the individual bird and the action.

Zilla holds her grudges for anywhere from a few minutes to a few days.

I'm afraid I offended her greatly last night when I removed her from the tree (she was tossing ornaments off to the cats), and then I wouldn't let her tear the ribbons off the gifts or help wrap some gifts...I am still the "HORRIBLE HUMAN" this morning!

Maybe she will get over it by this afternoon when her birdie cookies are ready to try?

Does a bear $hit in the woods?! :D

UUMMM... YEAH... THEY CRUSH HARD, AND THEY GRUDGE HARD. Sometimes both at the same time. One causes the other.

But they also get over it fairly quickly. Leave them alone for a day or two. Grudging out gets you nowhere... Let me know when we're friends again.

Reverse psychology works. I'll just ignore you while you are mad at me.

Reverse psychology with food works even better. Sit down, completely ignoring him, (with the cage door open) while enjoying his favorite treat, and not offering him any... YOU JUST WATCH HOW QUICKLY ALL WILL BE FORGIVEN.

What?! I'd give you some, but you don't like me anymore. Are we friends again?! Yes? Can you step up nice, and take it nice? Good bird! :D Nope! Never done this before... in fact, a bird grudge is practically unheard of... :D
