Wendy/Mods,

I think I discovered a bug in the forum system. Something about the code cannot seem to cope with rotating iPhone/ipad camera! Have a look at the series of photos below. When I post these on Facebook or instagram they appear upright. But when uploaded to this forum, the rotation's not corrected.

Upright

I seem to remember it has something to do with the "home button" position on your phone or iPad :). On photos with Landscape orientation (horizontal) the devices home button needs to be on the right hand side when taking the pic. What about rotating it in your device before posting.. did you try that?

I will put a word in at the mod forum (as well as being seen here) to alert the more tech savvy mods :). Hold on Chris!

You are correct Julie it is tied to orientation. I played with it and rotating the image in my phone didn't fix it.

We'll get to the bottom of it ;). If there is something that needs fixing in the system we will let Admin know.

This been discussed before. Your best bet is upload into photobucket then put the hyperlink here to post pictures. Unless you were trying to post a profile picture, it must be certain size to be accepted so you must modify the picture first before uploading for it to come up correct.

It's a shame I'm finding photo management on this forum is not particularly user friendly, particularly as a iPhone/iPad user. Photobucket doesn't have an iPad app (iPhone version failed me miserably), and I can't seem to get the html to work for Flickr or Instagram (especially since there is no ability to right click and get the image address). I'll give the photobucket website a try on my iPad and see how that goes.

Thank you both for your help, greatly appreciated :)

We'll bring this issue up with the administrator again to see what can be done. Sorry for the hassle! Perhaps other apple users can suggest something else you can do. But I use photobucket on my apple computer just fine, does it have to be a app to use on ipad? Cause I use photobucket off my tablet just fine but I've got a Galaxy Tab S.

Most websites with apps force iPhones and iPads to use the apps, automatically opening the app when the link is pressed. Bypassing that default is a huge pain in the arse. I figured photobucket was no different so went straight to apps.

I just tried the main website and it worked alright. So I'm up and running photo wise.

Just FYI as well, in case others experience something similar to another problem I'm having, on both my iPhone and iPad the link and image adding buttons cause all my browsers (safari and dolphin) to crash with some frequency. So there might be some incompatibility with those buttons and apple mobile devices.

Chris, they do have a Photobucket app for iPad. How do I know? I use it myself :)! I downloaded it from the App Store. It does work a bit differently than the phone version, although it's just as easy :).

My iPad doesn't have very good photo quality, so I usually use the app on my Android phone.

Edit: wait, actually I just looked in my purchased apps and although I did download the Photobucket for iPad at one time, I never used it... The one I'm using looks like the version I had on my iPhone (when I had iPhone). So, I lied above, I'm not using the one for iPad, but they do have it. It's a blue icon.

Odd Julie. I didn't find any app straightely named photobucket in conjunction with iPad. For iPhone, yes, but everyone on those reviews, even recently, saying they need one for iPad. Does it maybe go by a slightly different name?

I use photo bucket exclusively and am on either an iPad or iPhone! App works fine.

I double checked, and it was called 'Photobucket for iPad version 1.2.1'

Okay... I just found what the version is called that I'm using (currently on my iPad). It's called 'Photobucket Backup & Print Shop'

In fact, hold on... I'm going to take a screen shot of it and post it here (from my iPad)!!

Read under Information. Says compatible with iPad! (Ignore he black icon to the left, that's something else.

Our site administrator says that this is a problem with Apple iOS. They don't always like to make things easy and compatible with non-Apple software.

So, Photobucket is the best solution. It is very easy to use. Have you had a chance to check out the version I use on my iPad?

Flboy, not sure why but on my iPhone it was nothing but failed uploads nonstop. website worked seamlessly.

Julie, thanks a bunch. Why am I not surprised once again Apple is to blame? I definitely would have overlooked that app, with that "backup & print shop" title, thinking it had such a narrow purpose. I will give that a try and report back.
