I noticed Nalani's feathers were a little dark so I brought her to the sun and saw that her blue feather tips are blackish/grey. None of her red feathers have this, only the blue feathers on her chest and neck area. Is this normal? Or could it possibly be stress bars? Here's a few photos.

Normal. Not stress bars. Color is wearing off. I'd say she hasn't molted those yet. Can't remember her age but I'm betting those are still her baby feathers.

whew. Thank sodakat, I seriously felt my heart stop for a moment. She's about 9 months now, and hasn't had her first molt.

Oh, then she has only molted her head and neck probably. She will molt all her baby feathers eventually and her adult feathers will be stronger.

It looks to me like she is due for a molt. :)

Thanks all, hehe. I seriously got worried for a bit. What would I do without you guys and this forum!! :)

I thought the same thing with Scarlet when I first noticed her feathers just like that a week or so ago!
She has also not had her first molt yet, but I realised there not stress bars so they must mean she is due for a molt, seems she hasnt had a big one yet, only her head and neck. And that's exactly what it was, she is currently in the process of giving me some nice feathers ;) haha
