Kiwi Stardust - a green cheek conure
I have read a little about this from the posts on this forum, how a bird would regurgitate for their human 'mate', and that this behavior should be discouraged. Doesn't this happen when they are older though, like during sexual maturity? ( I could be getting my facts jumbled up..so please correct me if I'm wrong)

Kiwi is constantly offering er....her digested meals...to my fingers. She'll bob her head like she's trying to push something out and then place her beak over the tip of my finger and try to feed it..

She is only seven months old - is this behavior normal?

My bird was doing this way before he reached sexual maturity. I discouraged it enough that it's a habit that comes out once in a blue moon, but you know animals. Biological habits die hard.

Your well liked by your bird!!! They do it before maturity too! I don't like it being regurgitated on....ewwwww.....

LOL Kenji sometimes starts trying to regurgitate if he's too excited to see me, when he does I say "Uh oh getting to excited". When giving him attention I try to stop our interaction before it gets to that point.

I've seen unweaned chicks regurgitate food... and sometimes feeding siblings. Always found that odd!

Ya, definitely should be discouraged! Many people think it's sweet and great that their birds love them! But we can't physically meet their sexual needs! So it is best to discourage it... I think a lot of cockatoos are "messed up" because they were loved on too much, so they came to expect "mating" with humans, and then get frustrated when the humans can't complete their sexual desires and uh.... raising a family part....
