Another stupid question.:31:

I am used to my reptiles pooping once a day, I also know that birds poop through the day several times, but how often is normal?

Sterretjie poops every time that something frightens her, and that is often (but she is getting better). She also poops at least every half an hour, maybe more. In the morning when I open her cage then the ladder that she slept on has a pile of poop on. Is this normal or is it maybe the pellets causing it?

Cheese it is horrible to be back in the "I dont know anything" crowed. It brings back memories of when I just got my iguana and all the funny things that made me worry. (In other words I am warning you that I am going to bother you a lot with funny questions.)

Here is the scoop on poop: Birds drop usualy every 20 min. or so. Their metabolism is so high that this is normal. I try to get the morning poop bomb on the camode and usually do. Normal feces is some sort of green and usually firm. Both the color and consistency can change depending upon what is eaten. The white part is called urates. The third part is the urine. Diarrhea in a bird shows up with undigested food particles that don't have distinct parts that I described. Hope this helps you understand. Bye for now Wildheart.

Hi "five" to SB, you have covered it extremely well.
Mostly when something scares birds they do tend to poop.

Oh yeah wildheart NO QUESTION IS STUPID if you don't know the answer !!!:31:

Yup, it's both because their metabolism is so high and because they have to stay light. Everything about avian physiology is wired for lightness and efficiency. Reptiles are quite different - they're perfectly content carrying around 2/3 of their body weight (or more) in food in their gut.

When they get startled birds drop whatever they can so they can be ready to fly away.

Isn't it amazing that we can get so wound up about our birds' poop? I check Jade's and Max's every day. It's worse that when my kids were babies.

Oh my goodness just imagine if we had to change our birds diapers!!

As long as they poop often we are happy LoL
Weird saying but so true..... :p

I sometimes wonder what Auggie must think of me. I make him go before I let him accompany me out of his room into the rest of the apartment. From his perspective I must seem maniacally obsessed with pooping.

Hie-hie, that is so funny! How on earth do you get that right?:D

Dont worry, I am an expert poop-checker. Easiest way to see if something is wrong with my kids especially to see if my iguana is dehydrated.

Sterretjies poop is loose, very much watery.
